PETS Emergency Hospital is looking to add a full-time Lead Emergency Veterinary Technician to their team!

As a Veterinary Technician, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing care for our precious patients. Your work will include outpatient treatments, laboratory tests, and support services like admitting and discharging patients.

The Emergency Lead Veterinary Technician is responsible for veterinary nursing duties and providing direction to veterinary technicians and assistants. The Shift Lead should be knowledgeable in areas like client service, communication, clinical pathology, radiology, animal nursing care, anesthesia, surgical assistance, emergency medicine, and more. The shift lead must uphold hospital values and maintain professionalism.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist with hospital functions to maximize productivity and positive patient flow.
  • Assist in surgeries and procedures according to state regulations for credentialed technicians.
  • Communicate with clients about pet health concerns, Thrive Membership options, medications, and treatments.
  • Maintain medical records with practice systems.
  • Obtain health history and information from clients and maintain charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
  • Guide, mentor, and support team members.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • REQUIRED: Active LVT/RVT or CVT license
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical veterinary experience
  • Experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Specialty medicine
  • Understanding of common disease processes, treatments, and medications
  • Strong medical math skills for fluid rates, CRIs, drug infusions
  • Ability to obtain vital signs and interpret clinical signs
  • Experience with digital radiography
  • Prepare animals and instruments for surgery
  • Assist in surgeries and post-operative care
  • Administer medications and treatments
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Technical proficiency and commitment to a stress-free environment

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, starting at $25-$30/hour. The actual rate considers skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
