Job summary

Brookside School in Cottekill is seeking Certified Teaching Assistants to support preschool and school-age students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will work under Special Education Teachers to conduct small group and individual instruction and monitor student progress, while assisting with related instructional tasks.

The role requires excellent communication skills, basic computer experience (Word/Outlook), and completion of required trainings including ATAS and CTLE

Qualifications

• Experience with both preschool and school-age children with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Computer experience including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Pass ATAS.
• Workshops: Child Abuse, School Violence Prevention, Harassment, Bullying and Discrimination Training (valid for 3 years).

SCHEDULE: 8:45 am to 2:15 pm - Monday through Friday

• Workshops: Child Abuse, School Violence Prevention, six (6) hours of Harassment, Bullying and Discrimination Prevention and Intervention Training (valid for 3 years/maybe renewed once for three (3) with a commitment for employment. Commitment for employment must be verified by district using superintendent statements via TEACH online services

Level 3:

• All of the above in Level 1, and must have one (1) year of experience as a Teaching Assistant 1 and a total of 18 college credits, continuously valid with 100 CTLE hours every five (5) year registration cycle
