Job summary

Brookside School is seeking substitute Certified Teaching Assistants to support teachers and students. You will assist in small group and individual instruction under supervision, monitor progress, and help with related instructional tasks.

Strong communication and professional relations with staff are essential, along with required trainings. We value candidates with experience with preschool and school-age children with disabilities, and with ATAS certification.

Qualifications

• Experience working with preschool and school-age children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with staff and external stakeholders.
• ATAS certification is required.
• Completion of workshops: Child Abuse, School Violence Prevention, Harassment/Bullying/Discrimination Prevention and Intervention training (valid for 3 years).
• Must have one year of Teaching Assistant 1 experience and 18 college credits; 100 CTLE hours every five years.

The Brookside School, located in Cottekill, is seeking substitute Certified Teaching Assistants.

SCHEDULE: 8:45 am to 2:15 pm - Monday through Friday

• Experience with both preschool and school-age children with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
• Computer experience including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Excellent communication skills to be able to articulate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all internal staff and external stakeholders.
• Pass ATAS.
• Workshops: Child Abuse, School Violence Prevention, six (6) hours of Harassment, Bullying and Discrimination Prevention and Intervention Training (valid for 3 years/maybe renewed once for three (3) with a commitment for employment. Commitment for employment must be verified by district using superintendent statements via TEACH online services

Level 3:

• All of the above in Level 1, and must have one (1) year of experience as a Teaching Assistant 1 and a total of 18 college credits, continuously valid with 100 CTLE hours every five (5) year registration cycle
