Job summary

Brookside School in New York is hiring a Teacher's Aide to support daily classroom activities, assist with classroom maintenance, and help implement behavioral strategies in a caring, family-like environment.

The position requires familiarity with IEPs, frequent communication with the lead teacher, use of instructional techniques, completion of mandatory trainings, and ensuring student safety. Hours are 27.5 per week, 8:45 am–2:15 pm, with a starting salary of $16.34–$17.98 per hour.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Becoming familiar with the IEPs of all children with disabilities as well as objectives for all students in the class to maximize student learning opportunities and assist in their monitoring.
• Communicating frequently with teacher regarding student behavior, concerns, successes or problems offering suggestions when indicated.
• Using techniques employed by the teacher in regard to instruction and behavioral intervention to assure consistency.
• Completing all mandatory trainings and continue professional growth in the areas of assistive technology, augmentative communication, working with young children, and any other appropriate area as deemed necessary by program administration.
• Ensuring the safety of all students by maintaining appropriate supervision at all times.
