Job summary

Capital Region BOCES is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support our Special Education classrooms. You will work closely with teachers to assist students, support daily living skills, and help implement IEPs and curriculum activities.

We offer a collaborative team environment, a ten-month calendar with optional summer extended program, and a starting hourly rate with annual increases. NYS TA certification support is provided to help you grow professionally.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to begin NYS Teaching Assistant certification if not certified.
• Strong desire to help exceptional students succeed.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

As a Teaching Assistant in one of our Special Education classrooms:

• Your day will be busy supporting our special education teachers, students and classrooms. Every day is an exciting, fulfilling experience.
• You will make a positive impact on the student or classroom that you are assigned to by supporting their learning, growth and personal success.
• You will assist our students by supporting them with their daily living skills.
• You will be an important component in the execution of a student’s IEP or a teacher’s class plan and curriculum through defined activities and processes.

What you bring to our team:

• High School Diploma/GED or higher degree and, if not already certified, willingness to begin process of obtaining NYS Teaching Assistant certification upon hire
• Strong desire to help our exceptional students succeed.
• Experience in a Special Education setting is a plus.
• Passion to help others, great communication skills and a personal drive for continuous learning.
