Methodist Hospital Landmark is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support high-quality surgical care. The role involves planning for the surgeon's needs, coordinating with the perioperative nurse, and maintaining a sterile field across major surgical specialties.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, completion of a surgical technologist program (or prior hospital experience if hired before 9/1/2009), and certification per Texas HB 643 where applicable.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
• Graduate of a surgical technologist program OR hires prior to 9/1/2009 may substitute with 1-year experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist.
• Experience: None required (unless used in lieu of education as stated above).
• Per Texas HB 643, surgical technologists entering practice after 09/01/2009 must have and maintain a surgical technologist certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of quality surgical care by planning and anticipating the surgeon/procedure needs and coordinating with the circulating perioperative nurse during surgical procedures.
• Demonstrates competency in surgical technology across major surgical specialty areas; gathers and prepares sterile supplies, equipment, and maintains the sterile field.
• Assists the surgeon by supplying sterile instruments and supplies to the sterile field in a safe and efficient manner.
• Adheres to current AORN and regulatory standards and the facility's policies and procedures.
