Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Tyler, TX seeks a Surgical Technologist to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients. You will maintain aseptic technique, prepare the skin, and set up the Operating Room with tables, instruments, and supplies for each case.

Under the supervision of a nurse, you scrub multiple specialty areas and pass instruments to the physician. You will help maintain the sterile field and ensure universal precautions are followed. A 4-day, 10-hour work schedule is typical.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License required.
• 2+ years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a professional nurse, performs all direct patient care and assistance in the OR prior to and during surgery.
• Proficiently scrub 3 specialty areas; Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Robotics, etc. is highly preferred.
• Establishes and maintains the sterile field; passes instruments to the physician; assists as directed.
• Prepares the operating room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies for each case.
• Maintains aseptic technique and universal barrier precautions; ensures a safe surgical environment.
