Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN seeks a Surgical Tech for the Night shift in the Operating Room Labor and Delivery team. You will act as the surgeon’s right hand, ensuring instruments and supplies are ready before requests are made and maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures.

You will advocate for patients, ensure safe positioning and draping, and uphold 100% accuracy in counts to support patient safety from incision to closure.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire; cert accepted from AHA or Red Cross.
• Surgical Tech credential from NBSTSA required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate surgeon needs and prepare instruments and supplies.
• Position and drape patient for safety and dignity.
• Maintain sterile field and accurate instrument/sponges counts.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
