Job summary

Ascension's Dell Seton Medical Center-UT in Austin, TX is seeking a Surgical Technologist to prepare the operating room, arrange sterile supplies, and assist with draping and positioning.

You will hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon, maintain aseptic technique, and track counts to prevent retained objects, ensuring safety and efficiency during day shift. Credentials: BLS and NCCT/NBSTSA; OR experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS required within 1 month (30 days) of hire date.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from NCCT obtained before hire or NBSTSA credential obtained within 6 months of hire date.
• One or more of OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the surgical suite with sterile drapes, solutions, and instruments to ensure a safe environment.
• Anticipate surgeon's needs by handing over instruments, medication, and supplies during procedures.
• Assist in preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients for comfort, dignity, and proper access.
• Maintain instruments meticulously and track component counts to prevent retained objects.
• Maintain aseptic technique and situational awareness to maximize patient safety and OR efficiency.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted required.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
