Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Surgical Technologist First Assistant (CST-FA) to support the surgical team. Under surgeon supervision, you will perform first assistant duties and function as a Surgical Technologist in the OR as needed.

You will manage surgical instruments and coordinate patient care with the team, upholding patient rights and Mercy standards. The role requires a CST certification with at least 3 years of scrub experience and CFA is preferred if obtained within a year of hire.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years Surgical Technologist scrub experience.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required; Certified First Assistant (CFA) preferred (must be completed within one year of hire).

Responsibilities

• Performs early first assistant duties during the surgical procedure.
• Serves as Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room as needed.
• Maintains accountability for provision of surgical instruments to the team.
• Coords the care of the surgical patient with team members.
• Maintains patient rights and confidentiality.
