Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant (CST-FA) to support the surgeon during procedures. The role includes surgical tech duties in the operating room and instrument handoffs to the team.

Qualified candidates will have a CST certification, a HS diploma or GED, and at least 3 years of scrub experience. CFA preferred; if not, completion within one year of hire is required. Mercy emphasizes patient rights and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality; uphold Mercy Service Standards.

Under the supervision of the surgeon, the CST-FA performs first assistant duties during the surgical procedure. In addition, the CST-FA performs in the role of the Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room as needed. Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

• Education: HS Diploma or GED.
• Licensure: Surgical Technology experience or Graduate with a Degree in Surgical Technology or completion certification from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years Surgical Technologist scrub experience. Previous CST-FA experience preferred.
• Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist required (CST). Certified First Assistant preferred (CFA) if not must be completed within one year of hire.
