Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operating room teams with exposure of the surgical field and precise handling of clamps, ties, sutures, or coagulation as directed. You will apply anatomy and physiology knowledge to procedures while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality.

Required: HS diploma or GED, surgical technology education/degree, BLS, and two years OR experience. Certifications like CST or similar are preferred and basic life support is essential.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Surgical Technology experience or degree/certificate in Surgical Technology required.
• Maintain BLS certification required.
• Two years of Operating Room experience required.
• Certifications: CST or equivalent preferred; Certified Surgical First Assistant/Certified Surgical Assistant/ Surgical Assistant - Certified required.

Responsibilities

• Provide exposure and visibility of the surgical field.
• Clamp, tie, suture, or coagulate as directed in the surgical field.
• Apply knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and physiology.
• Maintain professional accountability for patient care for assigned patients.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments and protect patient rights and confidentiality.

Position Details:

Required Education: HS Diploma or GED.

Required Licensure: Surgical Technology experience or Graduate with a Degree in Surgical Technology or completion certificate.
