Job summary

Covenant Health’s Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to join the surgery team. This full-time role supports the surgeon and nursing staff before, during, and after procedures by maintaining a sterile field and ensuring instrument availability.

The position emphasizes adherence to aseptic technique, room setup and turnover, meticulous counts, equipment handling, and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Must hold current and active national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or TS-C certification.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient care by assisting the surgeon before, during and after surgical procedures; create and maintain a sterile field; provide instruments and supplies as required by the surgeons.
• Plans, sets up, performs and cleans up the assigned surgical procedure as a circulator and/or as a scrub tech; safely operates equipment used in surgical cases and ensures proper room turnover.
• Demonstrates knowledge of asepsis, proper scrubbing, gowning, gloving and sterile field setup; monitors sterility throughout the case.
• Performs counts of sharps, sponges and instruments per policy; assists with positioning and safety measures; supports quality improvement initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
