ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Surgical Technologist, Int. to support the Operating Room at the Cranberry and McCandless locations. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Shift Details:

• Monday - Friday 6:30a - 3p or 8:30a - 5p
• No weekends, call or holidays
• This position will go to McCandless campus on occasion
• Shifts will be further discussed during the interview

We are currently offering a generous sign-on bonus for all full-time Surgical Technologist positions! The amount is dependent upon your years of Surgical Technology experience. Sign-on bonus details:

• 0-1 years of experience: 2-year commitment $10,000; 3-year commitment $12,000
• 1-2 years of experience: 2-year commitment $12,000; 3-year commitment $17,000
• 2+ years of experience: 2-year commitment $15,000; 3-year commitment $25,000

Responsibilities:

• Ensure all medications are labeled and handed to surgeon according to established policies and procedures.
• Help prepare the operating room before an operation by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions.
• Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, and check to ensure proper functioning.
• During surgery, pass instruments and supplies efficiently to surgeons and assistants.
• Hold retractors or instruments, cut sutures, sponge or suction the operative site, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments under the surgeon's supervision.
• Assist in the preparation, care for, and disposal of laboratory specimens and help apply dressings.
• Assist the surgical team with donning sterile gowns and gloves.
• After surgery, help transfer patients to the recovery room.
• Clean and restock the operating room.
• Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites.
• Transport patients to the operating room, help position them, and cover with sterile drapes.
• Maintain a safe and aseptic environment, alert to safety and hazards.
