• AdventHealth Tampa, a faith-based not-for-profit 626-bed tertiary-level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine, and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures.
• GME programs at the hospital include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, and transitional year.
• AdventHealth Tampa is home to the renowned AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute, a leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and research.
• The Kiran C. Patel Research Institute at AdventHealth Tampa leads in clinical and academic research in neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, and more.

The role you’ll contribute:

Under general supervision, a surgical scrub technician/nurse assists with patient care in surgery by performing technical and delegated duties. Functions as part of the surgical team, providing care to patients across age groups (neonate to geriatric). Adheres to all applicable regulations and participates in outstanding customer service, maintaining respectful relationships.

• Performs surgical scrub duties, anticipating surgeon needs and informing the circulating nurse of any requirements.
• Ensures all supplies, equipment, and medications are prepared before procedures.
• Maintains high standards and quality, contributing to cost savings.
• Assists with operating room turnover efficiently and organizes team support.
• Supervises other healthcare team members and participates in training and orientation.
• Promotes safety, responds appropriately in emergencies, and manages hazards.
• Follows infection control practices, including PPE use and aseptic techniques.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and supports organizational policies.
• Maintains good relationships with staff and physicians, addressing complaints promptly.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• If LPN, must hold a current, valid Florida license as a Licensed Professional Nurse. Additional surgical technician certification is not required.
• Certification from the NBSTSA, National Paramedical Technicians and Assistant Association, or NCCT is preferred. An RN training program completion is acceptable in lieu of certification.
• BLS certification is required.
