• AdventHealth Tampa, a faith-based not-for-profit 626-bed tertiary-level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine, and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. GME programs on the hospital campus currently include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, and transitional year.
• AdventHealth Tampa is home to the renowned AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute, a recognized leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and leading-edge research – caring for Tampa Bay’s hearts for over 35 years.

The role you’ll contribute:

Under general supervision, a surgical scrub technician/nurse assists with patient care in surgery by performing technical and delegated duties. Functions as a member of the surgical team, providing care to patients of various age groups, adhering to standards of care. Complies with all applicable regulations and actively participates in outstanding customer service, maintaining respectful relationships.

• Performs the role of surgical scrub by anticipating the needs of the surgeon and keeping the circulating nurse informed.
• Ensures all supplies, equipment, and medications are prepared prior to procedures.
• Maintains high standards for cost savings and quality in the operating room.
• Assists with efficient room turnover and supervises ancillary personnel.
• Supports training and orientation of new staff members.
• Promotes a safe environment, taking action in emergencies and reporting hazards.
• Follows infection control practices, including PPE use and aseptic techniques.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and supports organizational policies.
• Maintains good relationships with staff and responds promptly to complaints.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

• If LPN, must have a valid Florida license; surgical technician certification is not required but preferred.
• Certification from NBSTSA, NPTA, NCCT, or RN training accepted in lieu of certification.
• BLS certification required.
