Northwest Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to support the operating room team and ensure safe, efficient patient care. The role involves preparing sterile fields, anticipating needs, instrument handling, and adherence to infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready per procedure.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout the procedure per Universal Precautions, asepsis, and sterile technique.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs and passes instruments and supplies accurately and efficiently.
• Handles instruments and equipment according to manufacturer instructions and hospital policy, including sterilization.
• Performs and documents sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse for patient safety.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction to ensure safety.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation for accuracy.
• Restocks supplies, cleans and returns equipment to storage, and prepares rooms for next cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
