St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Surgical Technician Certified to assist in the operating room, ensuring sterility, proper instrumentation, and readiness of supplies for procedures.

The role involves passing instruments, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting the surgical team throughout operations. Certification is required upon hire, with training and safety protocols emphasized.

Qualifications

• Certification required upon hire in NJ/PA where applicable.
• Experience with sterile techniques and operating room standards.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment for the procedure.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for self and team.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure and ensures they are in good working condition.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
• Assists with draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments, retractors and sutures to surgeon during procedure.
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure.
• Handles surgical specimens appropriately and safely.
• Handles sharps and medications following OR safety policies.
