St. Luke's University Health Network in Allentown, PA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room, maintain sterile technique, and support a multidisciplinary surgical team.

Qualifications

• Certification required upon hire in NJ.
• PA certification required unless new graduate.
• New graduates must obtain certification within six months.
• Acceptable certifications include NCCT (1 year renewal cycle) or NBSTSA (2 year renewal cycle)

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for self and members of the surgical team.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure and ensures they are in good working condition.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
• Assists with draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments, retractors and sutures to surgeon during procedure.
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure.
• Handles surgical specimens appropriately and safely.
• Handles sharps and medications following OR safety policies.

Education

NJ Certification required upon hire

PA Certification required upon hire unless new graduate

New Graduate requires certificate within six months of hiring date

NCCT Certification (1 year renewal cycle)

NBSTSA Certification (2 year renewal cycle)
