Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech to join our operating room team. The role supports safe, efficient surgical procedures and aligns with our patient-first mission.

Responsibilities include preparing the suite, assisting with patient positioning, passing instruments, and handling specimens. Applicants should graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program and obtain CST certification within 12 months of hire, plus CPR-BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire.
• CPR – Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies. Ensures availability and functionality of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continuously accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.
