Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the technician prepares instruments, maintains aseptic technique, and ensures readiness for emergencies.

Ortho experience is preferred. Requires graduation from a Surgical Technology program and BLS- CPR; certification and prior experience are a plus. Northwestern Medicine is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
• BLS - CPR certification.
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Technician.
• Preferred: prior experience as a Surgical Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and identifies equipment and supplies for all cases assigned.
• Sets up table, instruments and supplies according to procedure and physician's preference cards.
• Assists in positioning and draping of patient.
• Maintains aseptic technique throughout procedure.
• Assists RN in circulating duties when not scrubbed.
• Maintains readiness for emergencies and assists surgeon as needed.
• Coordinates use of supplies and equipment for intraoperative care with other staff.
