University of Utah Health is seeking a certified surgical technician to act as the primary scrub technician, handling instruments and equipment during surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile field and supporting the surgical team.

The role includes instrument and equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and assisting in specialty surgical services. Some locations may require call, holiday, and weekend shifts in addition to routine duties.

Qualificações

• Successful completion of an accredited OR technician program or military scrub tech training.
• Two years of hands-on experience as a surgical technician.

Responsabilidades

• Check supplies/instrumentation and equipment needed for surgical procedures and ensure they are working properly.
• Open sterile supplies and set up the table for each surgical procedure.
• Provide a sterile field for surgical procedures and assist the surgeon with draping the patient.
• Maintain the sterile field and inform the team of any breaches.
• Anticipate and pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon.
• Follow the perioperative count policy with circulating nurse.
• Prepare instruments for sterilization and assist in maintenance of equipment.
• Assist in development of unit goals, quality improvement, and cost containment measures.
