Job summary

Thompson Health is seeking a surgical scrub technician to support the surgeon and first assistant in the sterile operative field. You will ensure a sterile environment and that instruments and supplies are readily available for procedures.

Responsibilities include active participation in the surgical team, preparing the OR, and maintaining efficiency and patient safety. The role requires NYS credential or equivalent certification and BLS, with on-call shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Sterile technique, surgical instruments and procedures knowledge required.
• BLS Certification required.
• Surgical scrub tech experience preferred.
• Orientation on days M-F 7am-3:30pm initially.
• On-call requirements based on unit needs.

Responsibilities

• Assure a safe and efficient environment for the surgical patient by preparing for each assigned case.
• Actively participate as a member of the surgical team.
• Clear Operating Room after the case to maintain department efficiency.
• Maintain an optimal perioperative environment to meet patient needs.
• Provide quality care based on nursing research and quality improvement monitoring.
