Job summary

Flowers Hospital is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to join our operating room team. The role focuses on preparing and maintaining a sterile field, anticipating the surgeon’s needs, and ensuring safe handling of instruments to support high-quality patient care.

The technician assists with positioning, draping, and transfer under RN supervision, while contributing to instrument counts, inventory, and infection control protocols to sustain efficient OR workflows.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a surgical tech program or related nursing program is required.
• 0–2 years of operating room surgical technician experience preferred.
• Knowledge of sterile processing and infection prevention standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room with instruments, equipment and supplies per procedure and physician preference.
• Maintain sterile field throughout procedures and follow universal precautions.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments accurately and efficiently.
• Handle instruments per manufacturer instructions and hospital policy, including sterilization.
• Document counts of sponges, needles, and instruments to support patient safety.
