Job summary

AdventHealth in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will scrub, gown, and glove for procedures, set up sterile instrument tables, and assist the surgeon and assistants throughout operations.

This role requires knowledge of sterile technique, instrument handling, and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies. At least 2 years of CST experience and BLS certification are preferred; a HS diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field setup (Required)
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques (Required)
  • Ability to anticipate critical emergencies of Specialty Call Team (Required)
  • Organize, promote, and conduct in-services on unit (Required)
  • Proficient in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Checks supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.

  • Performs counts with circulator prior to operation and before incision is closed.
  • Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
  • Assists team with terminal cleaning and prepping for next patient.
  • Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
  • Recognizes and responds to emergencies promptly.
  • Assists in draping sterile field.
  • Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
  • Maintains highest standard of sterile technique.
  • Prepares sterile dressings and cleans instruments for sterilization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description:
  • Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
