Job summary

AdventHealth in Shawnee, KS is seeking a certified Surgical Technologist for PRN shifts. You will prepare the sterile field, pass instruments, and support the surgical team with instrument handling and aseptic technique during procedures.

The role emphasizes accurate counts, patient positioning, emergency readiness, and adherence to sterile practices across multiple surgical specialties. Active CST and BLS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques.
• Ability to anticipate critical emergencies of Specialty Call Team.
• Ability to organize, promote, and conduct in-services on unit.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Helps in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR Technician in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) [Required]
