Job summary

Trinity Health MI's Grand Haven Hospital seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the sterile field and assist the surgical team under surgeon supervision. You will prepare rooms, pull supplies, and ensure adherence to AORN standards and safety protocols.

The role requires completion of a Surgical Technologist program, certification (or within 1 year), current BLS, and strong communication. Day shift, full-time, with Day 1 benefits included.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program.
• Surgical Technology certification or completion of certification within 1 year of hire.
• AST certification preferred.
• One-year prior work experience as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.
• Current BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains department policies and safety standards (AORN).
• Pulls cases from preference cards accurately and completely.
• Prepares room with instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
• Sets up for procedures.
• Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.
• Breaks down sterile field after procedures and cleans and prepares rooms.
• Restocks and maintains equipment and supplies department-wide.

Surgical technologists work cooperatively with the circulating RN and under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures.

What you will do

• Maintains Established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental, infection control and AORN standards.
• Pulls cases from preference cards accurately and completely.
• Prepares room with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
• Sets up for procedures.
• Assist the surgical team during operative procedures.
• Proper breakdown of sterile field after procedures.
• Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures.
• Restocks, maintains and cares for equipment and supplies department wide.

What you will need

• Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program.
• Surgical Technology certification or completion of certification within 1 year of hire.
• Preferred Association of Surgical Technologist (AST) certification.
• Preferred One-year prior work experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.
• Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.
• Articulates and demonstrates commitment to the philosophy, values, mission and vision of the organization.
• Current BLS Certification.
