Job summary

Trinity Health in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a full-time, 12-hour evening shift. You will assist surgeons and residents by organizing and passing instruments, preparing supplies, and maintaining aseptic technique.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient positioning, draping, and exposure, while upholding infection control standards. Requirements include completion of a Surgical Technologist program or six years of experience; certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technologist program; or six years of surgical tech experience.
• Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
• Familiarity with standard desktop and Windows-based computer systems, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation.

• Applies knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique relative to all procedures.
• Applies principles of asepsis and infection prevention.
• Identifies breaches in aseptic technique and implements interventions for resolution.
• Assists with position, prepping and draping of the patient.
• Provides assistance as necessary to surgeons and residents by selecting, organizing, anticipating, and passing surgical instruments, medical supplies, equipment, and provides retraction under the direction of the surgeon.
• Assists with exposure through appropriate use of instruments, retractors, suctioning and sponging.

Position Purpose
