Job summary

Kansas Health System in Olathe, KS is seeking a PRN Certified Surgical Scrub Tech to support operating room procedures under the direction of the RN and Nurse Manager. The role focuses on asepsis, instrument handling, patient comfort and intraoperative support for major and minor procedures.

Requirements include a Surgical Technician degree with at least 1 year of experience or equivalent substitution, a high school diploma or GED, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Surgical Technician degree required; 1 year of experience may substitute for the education requirement.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain asepsis, positioning, prepping and draping, needle and instrument count, specimen care and dressing application.
• Prepare instruments and supplies for sterilization; clean/decontaminate instruments; help prepare OR for next case.
• Provide appropriate instrumentation to the surgeon.
• Provide psychological and physical comfort to the patient and identify changes in condition and report to RN/Charge Nurse.
• Perform professional, clinical and technical competencies for the assigned unit as required.
