Job summary

Qualifications

• Prepare surgical suites with required instruments and supplies per surgeon preference cards.
• Know instruments, supplies, and equipment used in surgical procedures and anticipate needs.
• Maintain aseptic technique and support patient safety throughout procedures.
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses and staff.

Responsibilities

• Uses physician preference cards to set up operating suites and updates as instructed.
• Assists with body plane closures, dressings, and drainage systems.
• Handles instruments and supplies during procedures, anticipating surgeon needs.
• Maintains aseptic technique and performs surgical hand scrubs and gown/gloves.
• Participates in time-out verification and counts of instruments, sharps and sponges.
