Job summary

HCA Florida Largo Hospital in Largo, FL is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assist PRN to work directly with the surgeon in the operating room, scrubbing and assisting during procedures. Responsibilities include providing retraction, tissue manipulation, and assisting with preparation, positioning, casts, dressings, and closure as needed; you may support the RN in the OR.

This role requires completion of an approved Surgical First Assistant program or equivalent, BLS certification, and ability

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Surgical First Assistant program or Medical School with 2250 hours of surgical rotation.
• Current certification as Surgical Assistant with 350 cases and 2 years of experience in the last 4 years.
• BLS approved by American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• Assist before, during, and after surgical procedures including retraction and tissue manipulation.
• Perform ligation, tissue approximation, clamps and electrocautery as needed during procedures.
• Assist in patient preparation, positioning, and application of casts, immobilizers, or tourniquets.
• Apply surgical dressings and drainage and assist in wound closure when required.
• Support the RN with technical functions related to patient care in the OR
