Job summary

Tucson Medical Center is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant to work in the Ortho/Neuro OR. You will collaborate with the surgeon to ensure safe, efficient procedures, support exposure, hemostasis, and closure, and participate in pre/postoperative duties under supervision.

The role requires CSFA/CSA and BLS certifications with at least two years of First Assistant experience, and an associate degree or equivalent plus accredited training. Full-time schedule, day shift.

Qualifications

• Education and certification required for Surgical First Assist role.
• Minimum of two years as a First Assistant.
• BLS and CSA/CSFA certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, closure, and intraoperative duties.
• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment; monitor restocking.
• Maintain sterile technique, draping, and instrument counts during procedures.
• Transports patients to/from the OR and positions them for surgery.
• Assist in specimen handling and post-procedure cleanup and room turnover.
