TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Certified Surgical First Assistant to join the operating room team. The CFA will assist the healthcare team in preoperative and intra-operative care, under surgeon direction, and may mentor others in their scope of expertise.

The role emphasizes preparing the surgical site, hemostasis, equipment handling, dressings, and postoperative injections in collaboration with the surgeon and nursing staff.

Qualifications

• CSFA certification through NBSTSA required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• 3 years of related experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the surgical site (shaving, marking, scrub/paint).
• Apply positioning aids and tourniquet cuff.
• Provide hemostasis via injections, cautery, and vessel control.
• Assist surgeon with specialized equipment (e.g., video camera).
• Perform skin closure by staples or sutures as directed by surgeon.
• Insert and suture drains as directed by surgeon.
• Apply dressings, gauze, splints, and casts.
• Administer local anesthetic injections postoperatively as directed.
