HCA Healthcare’s St. David’s North Austin Medical Center seeks a Certified Surgical First Assistant to support surgeons during operations, maintain aseptic technique, and ensure optimal patient outcomes. You will assist in exposure, hemostasis, positioning, draping, and instrument handling under surgeon direction.

Responsibilities include reviewing prep cards, placing catheters when needed, and aiding in drains and wound closure. Must hold CSFA/CSA or CST/TS-C certifications and BLS.

Qualifications

• Basic or advanced knowledge of surgical procedures and instruments.
• Ability to follow surgeon’s directives and hospital policy.
• Attention to sterility and aseptic technique.

Responsabilités

• Assist surgeons during operations and ensure exposure and homeostasis as directed.
• Review back table and preference card to ensure preparedness.
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping the surgical site, and draping per surgeon’s guidelines.
• Place pneumatic tourniquet and urinary catheter as required.
• Maintain hemostasis using appropriate instruments and sutures per surgeon's guidance.
• Assist with retraction, clamping, ligation, and cutting as directed by the surgeon.
• Assist in placement and suturing of surgical drains and closure of wound layers.
• Prepare grafts as directed by the surgeon.
