Job summary

Ascension is hiring a Part Time Sterile Processing professional for St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, IN. In this role you will operate sterilization equipment, decontaminate instruments, and ensure proper instrument sets and tracking for daily case carts.

You will maintain inventory, support quality assurance audits, and collaborate with the Sterile Processing team to uphold safety and compliance standards. CRCST certification is preferred, HS diploma or equivalent with relevant experience

Qualifications

• Licensure/certification as Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing (CRCST or CBSPD) obtained before hire date.
• Education: high school diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable job experience; certification can substitute education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers for cleanliness and function.
• Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, containers and equipment per IFUs and protocols.
• Correct instrument sets according to current standards and tracking systems.
• Maintain inventory levels to ensure availability for case carts.
• Perform regular quality assurance audits of peers.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
• Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.
• Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
• Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• One or more of the following required:
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
