Job summary

Texas Health Mansfield seeks a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to join the night-weekend shift. You will maintain records, operate sterilization equipment, and collaborate with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments.

Qualified candidates will have CRCST/CSPDT certification, infection control knowledge, and strong communication skills. This on-site role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient in English.
• Knowledge of Sterilization Standards.
• Knowledge of Surgical Instrumentation.
• Knowledge of infection control techniques.
• Basic Computer skills.
• Successful completion of an accredited Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology program.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of prevention of cross-contamination and the critical nature of nosocomial infections.
• Proficient use of all equipment.
• Ability to adapt to change and work in an environment that requires flexibility and dependability.
• Ability to lead others and work under stress and tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate records of sterilization activities.
• Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments.
• Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment.
• Corrects instrument sets according to current standards and tracking systems.
• Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
• Performs regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
• Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments and equipment.
• Monitors and documents sterilization processes to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues with sterilization equipment and processes.
• Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sterilization processes.
• Trains new staff on sterilization procedures and protocols.
• Ensures proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.

Job Description:

Shift: 1pm - 9:30pm

• Maintains accurate records of sterilization activities and inventory levels.
• Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
• Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
• Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets, and/or instrument tracking systems.
• Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.
• Performs regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
• Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments and equipment.
• Monitors and documents sterilization processes to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]
• High School Grad or Equiv or Technical/Vocational School [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+Sterile Processing experience [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Required] OR
• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
