You will handle instrument sterilization, tray assembly, and equipment maintenance within a collaborative healthcare team, ensuring instrument readiness for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified in Sterile Processing and Distribution or obtain within two years of employment.
• Knowledgeable of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, disinfects, and terminally sterilizes instruments and equipment.
• Demonstrates knowledge to assemble all components of trays used within area of responsibility.
• Keeps equipment coordinator informed of problems with equipment and instruments.
• Uses sterilization processes including steam, Sterrad and Steris.
• Maintains event-related sterility according to procedure.
• Demonstrates understanding of decontamination and sterilization of instruments and equipment used hospital-wide.
• Understands instruments and instrument trays used daily and their maintenance.
• Uses Impress Instrument Tracking System in each area.
