Job summary

HCA Florida Capital Hospital in Tallahassee is seeking a Certified RN Surgical First Assist to join our healthcare family. The RNFA acts as the surgeon’s assistant in the operating room, supports evaluations, procedures, care management, and follow‑up, within a collaborative team.

Candidates should have an Associate Degree or Nursing Diploma, Florida RN license, CNOR preferred, and RNFA certification with acute care experience. We offer comprehensive benefits and opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required.
• Florida RN license required; multistate license acceptable with 60 days to Florida.
• CNOR preferred
• Certification as RNFA required
• Acute care experience required
• Minimum 5 years previous experience or perioperative nursing coursework

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance in emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled cases
• Serve as a liaison between the surgical team and the patients' families
• Assess patients before, during, and after surgery and maintain a sterile operating room
• Perform count procedures to protect patient from inadvertent retained foreign objects and ensure correct site/side/level
• Intervene throughout the procedure to maintain patient system balances
• Involve patient in decisions affecting post‑perioperative plan of care
