Job summary

Torrance Memorial is seeking a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I to join the Outreach Patient Services team. You will collect and prepare blood specimens for analysis, label samples, and coordinate with the lab to ensure specimen integrity.

The role requires attention to infection control and accurate clerical tasks. You will perform venipunctures on adults and pediatric patients, maintain clear communication with patients, and help keep the front desk and lab processes running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Performs identification, collection and labeling of blood specimens according to procedures.
• Maintains infection control practices and proper hand hygiene.
• Documents test requests, results and intake data accurately in hospital systems.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens from adult and pediatric patients.
• Performs venipuncture using various devices and ensures specimen quality.
• Communicates with patients and staff using appropriate SBAR handoffs.
• Reviews physician orders for completeness and processes intake in the revenue cycle system.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and follows privacy policies.
• Supports performance improvement activities when appropriate.
