Job summary

Torrance Memorial is seeking a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I under general direction to register, collect and prepare blood specimens for analysis, working cooperatively with all team members.

You will perform venipunctures for adults, children, and infants, label specimens, document in the LIS, ensure infection control and safety, and communicate clearly using SBAR as appropriate. The role supports hospital workflows and patient experience through accurate data capture and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• CA CPT Certification within 2 months of hire
• California Class C driver's license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Identifies, collects and labels blood specimens according to procedures.
• Performs venipuncture for adult and pediatric patients.
• Ensures specimen quality and proper pre-analytic handling.
• Performs clerical and computer-related documentation.
• Adheres to infection control guidelines and safety procedures.
• Communicates with the lab and uses SBAR as appropriate.
