Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform specimen collection, processing and phlebotomy duties within a large hospital lab. The role involves accurate accessioning, customer service, and adherence to safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Under close supervision, you will operate instruments, conduct preventative maintenance, and handle records and inventory while ensuring patient safety and comfort across various shifts and locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
• Knowledge of hospital isolation, infection control, patient comfort/safety.
• Experience in a related lab, preferably in a large, complex healthcare system.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing, accessioning, phlebotomy, heel and finger sticks.
• Provide customer service, clerical duties, and effective communication with laboratory customers.
• Conduct problem resolution, record keeping, supply inventory, and maintain a safe work environment.
• Operate instruments and perform preventative maintenance as appropriate to the section.
• Adhere to current laboratory safety standards and section-specific duties.
