The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible, under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s) on duty, for the pharmaceutical care of patients across all age groups, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This position also involves coordinating Pharmacy Quality Improvement activities as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy or the Pharmacy Manager. The technician applies knowledge and judgment to make decisions regarding the proper filling of drug orders, subject to final approval by the pharmacist(s) on duty. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Tennessee Pharmacy Technician license required. PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification must be obtained upon hire or within one year of employment or transfer to the department.
