Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc. seeks a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in prescription preparation, insurance billing, and customer service. You will assist with inventory, labeling, mailing prescriptions, and maintaining patient information with strict confidentiality.

This fast-paced retail pharmacy role requires attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and adherence to HIPAA and store policies. Vaccination certification may be required where applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified as a licensed pharmacy technician through a national program; license must be active.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk preferred.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Handle inquiries that do not require pharmacist expertise and judgment.
• Accept new written prescriptions and telephoned refill requests per supervising pharmacist.
• Contact doctors' offices to request/refill prescriptions as needed.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information for prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Prepare labels and prescriptions for mailing.
• Submit insurance claims and troubleshoot third-party billing.
• File dispensed prescriptions and report medication errors.
• Order, check in, and stock pharmacy supplies; log invoices.
• Perform cash transactions accurately.
• Administer vaccines where permitted and certified.
• Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and HIPAA confidentiality.
• Adhere to all pharmacy regulations and policies.
