Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team. You will assist pharmacists with prescription processing, insurance billing, and customer service while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.

The role involves handling prescriptions, stocking supplies, preparing labels, and supporting vaccine administration where allowed by state law. A high school diploma and national certification are required, with prior technician experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Licensed pharmacy technician with national certification required and ongoing CE.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as applicable.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers with a smile.
• Handle routine customer inquiries not requiring pharmacist judgment.
• Accept new prescriptions and telephoned refills per supervising pharmacist.
• Contact doctors for refills as needed and maintain patient information for prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Prepare labels and prescriptions for mailing; ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third‑party billing and troubleshooting.
• File dispensed prescriptions and log medication errors as needed.
• Stock pharmacy supplies, log invoices, and handle cash transactions accurately.
• Administer vaccines as allowed by law with required certification.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area; HIPAA compliant.
