Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified as a licensed pharmacy technician; must maintain license.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or clerk preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile.
• Handle customer inquiries not requiring a pharmacist's expertise.
• Accept new written prescriptions and telephoned refill requests.
• Contact doctors to obtain or request refills as needed.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information for prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Label prescriptions and prepare prescriptions to be mailed.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third-party billing.
• File prescriptions after dispensing and report medication errors.
• Order, check in, and stock pharmacy supplies and log invoices.
• Administer vaccines where allowed by law, with required certification.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and store cleanliness of the dispensing area.
