Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in prescription processing, insurance billing, and customer service. You will help with inventory, labeling, and compliance while maintaining patient confidentiality and accuracy.

The role requires high school diploma, licensed technician certification, and vaccine certification where applicable. Previous pharmacy experience is preferred, with opportunities to grow within a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers with a smile.
• Handle customer inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise.
• Accept new written prescription orders and telephoned refill requests under supervision.
• Contact doctors' offices to discuss refills as needed.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information for prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drugs for dispensing.
• Prepare labels for containers and prescriptions to be mailed.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third-party billing.
• File prescriptions after dispensing and report medication errors.
• Order, check in, and stock pharmacy supplies and log invoices.
• Perform cash transactions accurately.
• Administer vaccines where allowed by law and certified.
• Maintain cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area.
• Protect patient privacy per HIPAA and confidentiality rules.
• Adhere to all pharmacy statutes and regulations.
• Work with team to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive environment.
