Job description

The Pharmacy Technician II Certified Acute Care works under the moderate supervision of a registered pharmacist and performs a variety of tasks including but not limited to aseptic compounding activities required to dispense IV prescriptions, recording medication histories, and activities related to receiving, dispensing, and delivering medications (both controlled and non-controlled) to ensure safe and quality patient care.

Responsibilities include:

1. Compounding hazardous and non-hazardous IV medications, evaluating for accuracy, and preparing, distributing, and disposing of medications in compliance with current standards under close supervision.
2. Interviewing patients to obtain accurate medication histories based on organizational standards.
3. Navigating electronic medical records to gather pertinent information for pharmacy activities.
4. Operating pharmacy systems and automation to assist with medication preparation.
5. Completing medication regulatory and compliance activities.
6. Communicating effectively with healthcare professionals and providing quality customer service.
7. Mentoring and training new employees.
8. Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience: 2 years of relevant experience or successful completion of a CH-accredited technician training program
• Licensure/Certification: Pharmacy Technician certification through PTCB or NHA prior to hire; registered with the NC Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire
