Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in prescription processing, insurance billing, and customer service in a fast-paced retail environment in Iowa. You will handle prescription processing, labeling, and inventory while upholding HIPAA and store policies.

The role requires a high school diploma, national certification, and vaccine administration certification if applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician through a national program; CE credits kept current.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or clerk preferred.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a friendly smile and assist with inquiries.
• Accept new written prescriptions and telephoned refills per pharmacist policy.
• Gather patient information and prepare prescriptions under supervision.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing drugs and labeling containers.
• Process insurance claims and assist with billing issues.
• Maintain pharmacy inventory and stock supplies; log invoices.
• Perform cash transactions and balance daily receipts.
• Administer vaccines where legally allowed and certified.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient privacy.
• Ensure cleanliness of the dispensing area and adherence to policies.
