Job summary

Ascension is hiring for a Pharmacy Technician in Murfreesboro, TN. You will maintain automated dispensing systems, prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds, and manage inventory while collaborating with Pharmacists to deliver high-quality distributive services and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualified candidates must be a Registered Pharmacy Tech in Tennessee within 3 months of hire, with preferred certifications from NHA or PTCB.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy within 3 months of hire date.
• Certification from NHA or PTCB is preferred but not required at hire.
• Note: professional licensure can be used in lieu of education or experience if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Proactively maintain automated dispensing systems for secure medication access.
• Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds and repackage medications per safety standards.
• Oversee inventory, receive supplies, and ensure regulatory storage requirements are met.
• Partner with Pharmacists to deliver distributive services and maintain technical integrity of the pharmacy.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Proactively maintain automated dispensing systems to ensure seamless, secure medication access for clinical units.
• Accurately prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds and repackage medications according to strict CPhT safety standards.
• Manage the pharmacyâs lifeblood by overseeing inventory, receiving supplies, and ensuring all stock meets regulatory storage requirements.
• Partner with Pharmacists to deliver high-level distributive services and maintain the technical integrity of the pharmacy department.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Pharmacy students actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy are not required to have certification/registration.
• And One or more of the following Required:
  • Certified Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Pharmacy students actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy are not required to have certification/registration.
  • Certified Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Pharmacy students actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy are not required to have certification/registration.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences

• 2+ years of CPhT experience
• Advanced CPhT preferred
