General Function:
Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications. Must be licensed through a national certification program as a pharmacy technician.

Accountable and Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Health Wellness & Home, Store Operations, and Perishables; Pharmacy Department Manager, Staff Pharmacists.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions.
- Greets customers with a smile and makes efforts to learn and address them by name.
- Assists customers by escorting, securing out-of-reach products, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along suggestions or requests.
- Answers phone calls promptly, providing helpful service.
- Works as part of a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Handles inquiries that do not require pharmacist’s expertise.
- Accepts and processes prescription orders and refills as authorized by the pharmacist.
- Gathers patient information, assists in prescription preparation, labels containers, and prepares prescriptions for mailing.
- Handles insurance claims, files prescriptions, reports medication errors, orders and stocks supplies, and performs cash transactions.
- Maintains cleanliness and adheres to all guidelines and regulations, including administering vaccines where legally permitted.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in other store areas as needed and performs related duties or projects.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
- Logical/scientific problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations.
- Ability to compose correspondence, follow manuals, and evaluate technical data.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a licensed pharmacy technician through a recognized national program, with ongoing education requirements.
- Preferred prior experience as a pharmacy technician or clerk; vaccination certification as required by law.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and minimal force constantly.
- Visual acuity from less than 20 inches to over 20 feet, including color vision and depth perception.
- Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced retail environment, handling multiple tasks daily, with occasional exposure to chemicals during compounding and chemotherapy drug preparation.
Equipment Used:
PC with pharmacy software, printer, cash register, C.A.R.S. system, balance, scanner, calculator, telephone, fax, copier.
Confidentiality:
Maintains patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
Contacts:
Daily contact with customers, the public, and vendors; occasional contact with organizations and regulatory agencies.
